Position Summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Construction Coordinator, Commercial Services to manage commercial fiber construction projects from start to finish. This role requires a hard-working, customer-focused individual comfortable visiting multiple construction sites daily, conducting inspections and site visits, and working directly with commercial customers, internal leadership, and contractors to resolve all construction-related concerns.

This role owns the full commercial project lifecycle: surveying locations, identifying permitting requirements, preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) packages, troubleshooting on-site issues, performing safety and quality control checks, verifying as-builts, and ensuring all work meets established technical standards, company policies, and customer expectations — on time and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of commercial construction projects from start to finish, coordinating between customers and all internal and external departments to deliver a high-quality customer experience with every interaction.
  • Conduct field surveys of proposed and existing outside plant installations; design route paths and building entries for service delivery; identify permitting requirements and ensure all permits and easements are obtained prior to construction.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) packages for contractors; request purchase orders and manage material ordering, delivery, and coordination with contract construction companies.
  • Assign work to subcontractor leadership teams and review final billing; interact with Field Supervisors to verify field work status and correct discrepancies.
  • Field-verify that all construction activities meet design specifications and quality standards; monitor and hold subcontractors accountable for quality, workmanship, productivity, safety, and customer service performance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and IQ Fiber policies throughout all construction activities.
  • Modify design schematics to reflect as-built conditions; ensure all as-built data and bore logs are delivered to the design team for input into Vetro.
  • Submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on all construction activity; verify work-in-progress reports and provide updates to internal and external departments.
  • Manage commercial customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle, handling escalations with urgency and ownership to ensure customer needs are met from kickoff through closeout.
  • Troubleshoot on-site issues proactively, taking corrective action quickly to protect timelines, cost control, and service quality; define architecture, equipment needs, costs, and variables to support accurate project planning.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of telecommunications construction experience highly preferred; experience with walk-out surveys, design, budgeting, and creating BOMs including GPON required.
  • Experience managing contractor relationships and coordinating multi-site construction projects; industry certifications such as NCTI, SCTE, or BCT/E preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; computer skills sufficient to learn new applications and systems including Vetro.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clear MVR (no more than two minor infractions in the past two years), current auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record; ability to drive during nighttime and in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must pass a standard background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service, manage escalations effectively, and work professionally across all levels of the organization and with external customers and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, adapt quickly, and work independently with minimal direction using strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats and remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds repeatedly, climb ladders up to 28 feet, and work in all outdoor environments.
  • Availability for 24/7 emergency response including mandatory overtime, after-hours, and weekend work during natural disasters and network outages.

What Success Looks Like

  • Commercial construction projects are owned end-to-end and delivered on schedule and within budget, with execution consistently aligned to company standards for quality, professionalism, and financial discipline.
  • Customers, contractors, and internal teams remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle, supported by clear communication, proactive coordination, and permitting completed correctly to avoid delays and rework.
  • Quality, safety, and compliance expectations are consistently met in the field, with routine verification performed, issues addressed quickly, and subcontractors held accountable to defined performance standards.
  • Project documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on time — including BOMs, as-builts, reporting, and material tracking — enabling smooth handoffs and strong support for operational and design teams.
  • Commercial customers have a consistently strong experience, with risks managed proactively, escalations handled with urgency and ownership, and customer needs met reliably from kickoff through closeout.
