Position Summary:
The Safety, Quality, and Training Manager, Technical Operations, is a dynamic, coaching-focused role that fosters a collaborative, results-driven culture where individuals can thrive. This position oversees workplace safety for field-based installation and service technicians. It also oversees the Technical Operations Quality and Damage Control programs.

This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety, installation, and service training programs for the Technical Operations Teams across the network, while conducting periodic inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and the quality of service. This manager serves as the primary point of contact for senior leadership, employees, and stakeholders regarding field operations safety, quality, and compliance. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain installation and service safety programs that incorporate current OSHA standards and labor law compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety and quality inspections and audits, recommending corrective actions when needed.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with external insurance providers to report and manage safety and incident-related claims.
  • Monitor and coordinate medical treatment communication for injured employees.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, company, and industry standards (TIA/EIA, ANSI, BICSI).
  • Establish and maintain technical, safety, and quality standards; create training and certification programs to help employees meet or exceed these standards.
  • Design and implement effective adult learning strategies—including digital learning, classroom instruction, hands-on training, and certification programs—to ensure high comprehension and compliance.
  • Conduct regular on-the-job training and refresher sessions to maintain crew proficiency.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal and external knowledge bases.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of safety incidents, quality assessments, and training activities.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints about installation quality (both external and internal) and service delivery.
  • Establish and document clear, operational working practices.
  • Supervise the proper operation and maintenance of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools according to company safety standards while ensuring current certifications and licenses.
  • Foster a culture of safety and quality throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in management or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in safety and quality programs for fiber installation operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal/state OSHA regulations
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and SOPs
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts simply
  • Proven track record of training and mentoring technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to meet departmental goals and metrics
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Professional approach to problem-solving and challenging situations
  • Must pass a background check and have a valid driver's license
  • Willing to work overtime and travel to various markets as needed
